Charlotte Sisson Glendye
Charlotte Sisson Glendye passed away peacefully, Monday, February 10, 2014 at Azalealand Nursing Home. She was born at the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse, Ponce Inlet, Florida on September 13, 1924.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Richard L. Glendye, Sr. her brother, Fred Sisson, three sisters, Betty McKenzie, Martha Americantani, and Marion Armstrong.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Varn Algernon, son Richard L. Glendye, Jr. Patti, four grandchildren, Ashby Koontz Garcia, Trey GlendyeChristina, Adam Glendye, and Ross Glendye Carolyn. Five great-grandchildren, Mike, Molly, and Maya Garcia, Reives and Brooks Glendye, all of Savannah.
Charlotte was loved by all and never met a stranger. Her cherished memories were making rounds with her lighthouse keeper father, lighting lights and living life in rivers of Florida and Georgia, most notably, Isle of Hope.
She was a self taught gardener, carpenter, and brick layer, along with any other projects that she pursued. She was blessed with many friends.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
The family would like to thank the management, residents, caregivers, and volunteers of Azalealand Nursing Home.
